A Night Made-Up for Martin Scorsese

marty You deserve it, Marty. Though it's not your best film, to be honest, I even think The Departed sucks. But anyway, you are Martin Scorsese and you are a genuine New Yorker, so let's just celebrate your much-delayed Oscar honor without putting ourselves into the debate of the legitimacy of The Departed. (A full Oscar review will come tomorrow. Since this year’s contestants are generally weak, this review won’t be too relevant to those mediocre films. I’m going to talk about those gorgeous-looking actresses. Doesn’t anyone think Nicole Kidman is as hot as a flaming fire?)

我也不覺得The Departed是Scorsese最傑出的電影
不過看到他終於得到奧斯卡最佳導演實在很高興
我情不自禁的對著電視鼓掌了呢

Looking forward to seeing what you have to say about the actresses. You're right, Nicole Kidman is just gorgeous. Helen Mirren is pretty hot too (for someone who's over 60). Peter O'Toole's makeup looks creepy. And I have no idea why Celine Dion was there.

Although The Departed isn't Marty's best, but it actually wasn't that bad. Truth is, I like it more than Infernal Affairs. The Departed is much grander in vision than Infernal Affairs which is really, a well-executed genre film.

But if I was to pick I would give the Best Picture to The Queen, pitch perfect script and performance. Overall it's a boring Oscar, most of the awards rather predictable, Ellen failed to impress.

Me and my other friend actually thought that frock of Nicole's is rather, unflattering. My friend went as far to say that she looks like a turkey (that's him, not me).
I thought Cate Blanchett is simply elegance personified, Naomi sweet as ever, Gwyneth is graceful (although i don't usually like her), Penelope the perfect spanish Goddess...

To樓上的:

I think "Ellen failed to impress" is not Ellen's fault. The Academy really enforeced "clean jokes" this year; that's why Ellen had to tune down (but I still think she did a good job). Another victim of this enforcement is Borat. I just thought it would be a lot funner if Borat was one of the presenters (wearing his green swimsuit).

喔所以艾倫有'tune down'是咩
我還在想說她的笑話怎麼都這麼冷...

Cate Blanchett is elegant, but Helen Mirren is really hot in her age!

I agree with your opinion on Helen Mirren.
She is older than my mom, but she is indeed hot.

I really don't know why we need to watch that creepy Celine Dion.
She can give me an instant stomach upset...

If the Oscar has to recruit some female Canadian performer, next time please bring us Avril Lavigne.
Even if she is creepy too, at least in a different way.

pulp 發表於 March 2, 2007 8:30 AM

You're right. At least Avril is creepy in a not-Celine-Dion-kinda-creepy way.

But I rather see Chantal Kreviazuk as the Canadian female performer. I've always thought she's hot, in an elegant-and-curvaceous way XD

to 宋胖,

If we talk about Canadian female singers, how could we not mention Emily Haines and Leslie Feist?
I'm eagerly waiting for Feist's new album.

to michelle,

Thanks for the info. I just saw Placebo last November. They are a good live band:

And most importantly, I will be in Taiwan this April.
