Dean & Britta – He’s Coming Home (and Other Christmas Songs)

耶誕節向來都是洋人的玩意兒。但湊湊熱鬧，有時也挺有樂趣。常跟朋友談起，外國人似乎天生有種「認真做傻事」的情操。某些我們眼中看來微不足道、不值一提的笨事，他們卻做得相當起勁。這些笨事，或許無法令人有錢，卻能讓人快樂。這也是為何至美國鄉間走踏時，周遭全是濃郁的閒適感。若在那種環境底下，尋訪客仍不時露出汲汲營營的匆忙表情，未免顯得太不入境隨俗了。這也讓我想起初次於國外體驗的萬聖節熱鬧場面。每戶人家費心地佈置庭院，老早計畫著"遊行當夜":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/004059.html要如何變裝。其實說穿了，不過都是些裝神弄鬼的瑣碎之事，他們卻如此認真對待，硬要從中找出樂趣不可。不但自娛也娛人，連置身事外的旁觀者都沾染了年節氣氛。耶誕節既為西洋最大節日，搖滾圈也總是共襄盛舉，唱些應景歌曲。最有名的例子當屬八零年代一票流行樂手齊聲獻唱的Do They Know It’s Christmas?，前年甚至還衍生出獨立樂手通力合作的"Do They Know It’s Halloween?":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/005957.html。此外，丹麥樂隊"Mew":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/008495.html曾於Frengers專輯演唱了She Came Home For Christmas，而信仰虔誠的"Sufjan Stevens":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/006210.html除了去年推出一套五張EP的"Songs For Christmas":http://asthmatickitty.com/music.php?releaseID=63 Box Set，今年也再度灌錄一首"We Wish You A Merry Christmas":http://www.soundsfamilyre.com/blog/。 "Coldplay":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/002171.html日前也於官網翻唱了Wham的世紀名曲Last Christmas；"Oasis":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/005974.html吉他手Noel Gallagher則翻唱了英倫華麗搖滾樂隊Slade的Merry Christmas Everybody；"Belle & Sebastian":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/008034.html也於MySpace串流了"Are You Coming Over For Christmas":http://www.myspace.com/thebandbelleandsebastian，這是他們自去年The Life Pursuit專輯後首度公佈的錄音室作品。"Monster Movie":http://www.monster-movie.com/news.htm則推出限量一百張、手工編號的耶誕歌曲CD-R。樂迷當然更不會忘記"Flaming Lips":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/009829.html發表於1995年的搞笑系耶誕歌曲Christmas At The Zoo（此曲的MV堪稱經典）。 "Dean & Britta":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/009974.html今年也與好友Sonic Boom（Spacemen 3）合作了限量的七吋單曲黑膠，收錄了翻唱Wailers的耶誕小曲He’s Coming Home（原曲為She’s Coming Home）。得知消息，我即刻於"廠牌網站":http://www.chimneyrocks.org/hescominghome.html訂了一張，可惜工廠趕製不及，延宕了寄送時程。Dean特地捎來數位版本，已掛上部落格首頁播放，他們的"MySpace":http://www.myspace.com/deanandbritta也正串流中。若真要說起眾人最愛的耶誕歌曲，或許仍屬"John Lennon":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/006644.html與Yoko Ono發表於1971年底的Happy Xmas（War Is Over）。它不只是應景的節慶單曲而已，更是一首經典的反戰之歌。記得過往幾年的耶誕前夕，Yoko Ono皆於"Village Voice":http://pulp.bluecircus.net/archives/006515.html刊登全版廣告，素淨的白底襯著Happy Xmas（War Is Over）簡單幾個黑字，傳遞的訊息卻是如此強烈。不禁讓人在休憩的當下，同時低頭反思，這場萬惡戰爭究竟何時才會結束？ Band Aid - Do They Know It’s Christmas?
